Most people want to grow old in their own home, and most families want to make that possible. The hard part is knowing what kind of help is needed, how much, and who to trust with it. REACH Home Care provides in-home senior care across the Tri-Cities and Moses Lake: trained, licensed caregivers who come to the house on a schedule you set, from a few hours a week to around-the-clock care.
We are a locally owned, Washington State-licensed in-home services agency (DOH license IHS.FS.61064639) with offices in Kennewick and Moses Lake, and every caregiver we send completes the state’s 75-hour Home Care Aide training at our own REACH Training Center, including dementia training. Caregivers pass a Washington State background check before they are hired, and a care coordinator supervises every plan.
What in-home senior care includes
Home care is non-medical support with the parts of daily life that have become difficult. A typical plan combines several of these, and we adjust the mix as needs change:
- Personal care: bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and incontinence care, done with dignity and patience. See Personal Care & ADL Assistance.
- Mobility and fall prevention: steady help standing, walking, and getting in and out of bed or the shower, including gait belts and Hoyer lift transfers when needed.
- Meals and hydration: grocery shopping, cooking to dietary needs, and making sure meals actually get eaten.
- Medication reminders: prompting at the right times and watching for missed doses or side effects to report to family and physicians.
- Light housekeeping and laundry: keeping the home clean, safe, and clutter-free.
- Errands and transportation: rides to appointments, pharmacy runs, and shopping.
- Companionship: conversation, hobbies, walks, and simply having someone there. See Companionship Care.
- Specialized care: dementia, Parkinson’s and PSP, hospital-to-home recovery, overnight and 24-hour care.
How much care does my parent need?
Families usually call us at one of three points. The first is early: a parent is managing but the house is slipping, meals are skipped, and a fall is starting to feel likely. A few hours two or three days a week for meals, errands, and a shower is often enough, and it lets us learn the routine before a crisis. The second is after an event, usually a fall or a hospital stay, when someone needs daily help for a few weeks or permanently. The third is when a family caregiver is worn out and needs respite. We meet you wherever you are; the free assessment is where we work out the hours together.
Home care, home health, and assisted living
Home care is non-medical: we help with daily living. Home health is skilled nursing or therapy ordered by a physician for a limited period, and we often work alongside home health and hospice teams rather than replacing them. Assisted living moves the person out of the home. For many Tri-Cities families, in-home care delays or avoids that move entirely, and it is usually the option the parent prefers.
